Seattle, WA. - (February 17, 2010) — Witness the account of three ultra-marathoners who battled injury, fatigue and grueling temperatures on their 111-day, 4,300-mile journey across the world’s largest desert in Running the Sahara. A special one-night screening of the feature documentary will be held at the Admiral Theater in West Seattle on March 10, 2010 at 6:30 p.m.
NEHST Studios, a film and television production company started by Academy Award® winning independent film producer Larry Meistrich (Sling Blade, You Can Count On Me, Belly) has created the “Nehst Out Experience." Nehst Out is more than a ticket and a movie. Distributing acquired and original content Nehst Out includes events and premieres with a film festival feel and an engaging social component. These screenings deliver a relaxed atmosphere, feature talent from the film, and DVD for all paid guests. “We want to provide an experience to the public that they may not normally have access to. Offering the Q&A that follows the movie gives viewers the opportunity to share their opinion and questions with the creators of the film,” said Meistrich. Nehst Out averages 5 visits per market per year.
Directed by Academy Award® winner James Moll and produced and narrated by actor Matt Damon, Running the Sahara follows the exploits of Charlie Engle from North Carolina, Ray Zahab from Ontario and Kevin Lin from Taipei as the three friends cross six countries in their attempt to become the first people to run across the world’s largest desert.
This character-driven film delves into the life-changing experiences of the three runners as they battle the physical and emotional obstacles in the Sahara Desert. The documentary delivers a message of hope and puts everyday challenges in perspective. “Running the Sahara tells an inspiring true story of three men on their quest to accomplish what most of us consider impossible,” said Damon, “The project also gave us a chance to call attention to the clean water crisis in that part of the world.”
Music from U2, Pearl Jam, Wyclef Jean, and the African Children’s Choir are featured in this documentary. “I am proud to be part of such an amazing project,” said Wyclef Jean, whose music is an integral part of Running the Sahara. “I’ve seen suffering in the developing world firsthand and hope people not only enjoy the movie, but find ways that they can help those most in need.”

About Running the Sahara
Running the Sahara chronicles an attempt by three ultra marathoners to run across the entire length of Africa’s Sahara Desert, tackling not only the elements, but also unimaginable physical and emotional obstacles. Their goal is to run through Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Libya, and Egypt, anticipating two marathons per day, for eighty days - without a day off. The expedition spans 4,300 miles (6,920 kilometers) and passes through six countries. Charlie Engle from the United States, Kevin Lin from Taiwan, and Ray Zahab from Canada, have run together in marathons before. But this expedition is different. It’s a grueling test of will – a story about the human spirit under fire – and a chance to accomplish something that no known person has ever achieved.
